Smartroute connected to the rest of your supply chain
Do you use Smartroute, the Dutch route planning platform, to plan the routes of your own fleet? Then the gain is often not in the planning itself but in everything around it: orders copied over from the ERP or the webshop, and delivery statuses that are entered back by hand.
The same goes for online shops, wholesalers and manufacturers that deliver their own products. Think of a webshop in WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento or Lightspeed, or an ERP such as Exact, AFAS, Odoo or SAP Business One. Almost any system with an API or an export can be connected. Orders go to Smartroute automatically, and the planned delivery date and the delivery status come back into the webshop, so your customer can see when to expect their order.
Smartroute has standard integrations with a number of well-known ERP packages and webshops. We connect what falls outside them, or what needs to work slightly differently: your own ERP or WMS, a customer portal, or an integration where the planning also has to go back to the warehouse.

What Smartroute offers for an integration
Database API
Create and update orders, keep track of drivers and their availability, request the planning for a day and follow the live status. Your own order number remains the key, so an update always reaches the right order.
Planning from the API
Orders first wait as unplanned, then move into a draft plan and are then finalised. That step can be taken by the planner, or by the integration itself.
Webhooks on status updates
Smartroute sends a message when an order has been planned or when something happens on the road. That way the status comes back into your own system without having to ask.
Time slots for your customer
The API can be queried for the delivery slots that still fit into the planning, so your customer can choose a time slot when ordering.
What we connect to Smartroute
- Orders from your ERP, WMS or webshop into Smartroute, as an unplanned order with address, time window and load.
- Delivery date and route sequence back to the webshop, so your customer can see in their account or by email when the delivery will arrive.
- A pick list or loading list per route, so the warehouse prepares what goes on which vehicle, in the order of the route.
- Planned times back to the ERP and the customer, so the customer knows when to expect the delivery.
- Delivery status and proof of delivery back, including signature and photo from the driver app.
- The planning back to the warehouse, so picking follows the loading sequence. See also Picqer and Boltrics.
- Drivers and their availability from your rostering system.
What to plan for with Smartroute
Every package has its own rules. These are the points that, with Smartroute, make the difference between an integration that keeps running and one that stalls every now and then. We take them into account from day one.
Settings per environment
You set up order types, capacities, vehicle properties and phases yourself in Smartroute. The integration must use exactly the same names, so we first retrieve them from your environment.
You set up webhooks in Smartroute
Which events are forwarded is something you set in the Smartroute dashboard. We also pick up the day planning, so a missed notification is still noticed.
Your own order number as the key
Smartroute uses your order number to recognise an order. A change or cancellation only arrives correctly if that number is sent consistently from the very first order.
Standard where possible
For a number of packages Smartroute already has an integration of its own. We first check whether that is enough before we build anything.
Orders from the ERP into the route planning automatically
Take a company that exports the orders for the next day from its ERP every afternoon and imports them into Smartroute. After the routes, the office staff enter the delivery statuses back by hand.
-
01
An order that is released for delivery in the ERP goes straight into Smartroute as an unplanned order, with the order number from the ERP.
-
02
The planner plans as usual. The planned time goes back to the ERP and to the customer.
-
03
On delivery, Smartroute reports the status. The ERP receives the delivery status with the signature, so the order can be invoiced right away.
No afternoon import and no manual work after the routes, and the order is invoiced on the day it was delivered.

Smartroute integration in brief
Doesn’t Smartroute already have an integration with our package?
For a number of ERP packages and webshops it does, and then we will tell you so. We connect what falls outside them, or what needs to work slightly differently from the standard.
Can you connect Smartroute to WooCommerce or another webshop?
Yes. Almost any system with an API or an export can be connected: WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento and Lightspeed, and ERP packages such as Exact, AFAS, Odoo or SAP Business One. Orders go into the planning and the delivery date comes back with the order. If you use product options without their own item number, we translate them into what actually needs to be loaded.
How long does an integration like this take?
That depends on the scope; a simple integration on a standard API can be done within a few weeks, larger projects take 1 to 3 months on average.
Can you also have the planning created automatically?
Yes. The integration can place orders into the planning and finalise the planning. Usually the planner prefers to keep that last step in their own hands.
What do you need from us?
An API key that you create yourself in Smartroute, and access to the system the orders come from. We work out the rest.
Who looks after the integration once it is live?
We do. We monitor the integration, so an order that does not make it into the planning is noticed straight away.
